AngeNetta's cooks Thanksgiving meal with Valley students
A big part of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday is the delicious food!
That's why one Canfield restaurant shared its skills with local students on Monday, offering them tips on how to prep that classic Turkey Day spread.
The owners of AngeNetta's Cafe & Catering stopped by Cardinal Mooney High School to work with dozens of 7th and 8th graders from the Valley's parochial schools.
"As we were putting this together, we were talking to various families and they say how much their kids already love to cook," explained Kim Simons Cox, Admissions & Enrichment Coordinator with Cardinal Mooney High School. "It was fun to see them be so excited to be here and share their techniques with each other."
AngeNetta's Owner & Chef Tony Olin says it's important to teach our Valley's youth essential cooking skills, especially during the holiday season.
"Teaching young children the art of what to do, as far as Thanksgiving and traditional holiday cooking, it's important to experience it," Olin told 21 News.
"We're learning life skills," said Josiah, a 7th grader from St. Christine School. "We're learning how to prepare for ourselves and how to fend for ourselves."
Aside from learning all the tips and tricks to stuffing a turkey, students also gain valuable life skills.
"In the kitchen and at these food stations, I think this is a new way to collaborate, cooperate, and be a team," Simons Cox added.
"I'm glad we could learn how to cook Thanksgiving dinner for our future families one day," said Zac, an 8th-grade student at St. Christine School.
"It's a good way to learn and meet the people that you're going to be going to high school next year with," said Alivia, an 8th-grade student at St. Charles School. "Mooney does really fun things like this."
Students were able to enjoy their creations at Cardinal Mooney's first-ever Friendsgiving while spreading joy and meeting new friends, as the holiday season draws near.
"We'd love to make this something that we do every year," Simons Cox added. "We'll grow from this year and evolve. The adults were just as excited as the kids to put this on."
