The City of Columbiana has received over $96,000 for the cleanup and remediation of an abandoned gas station in the city.

According to a press release from the Ohio Department of Development, the City of Columbiana received a total of $96,295 for the cleanup of the abandoned property at 31 East Park Avenue.

According to the release, local developer Rick Feezle is planning to renovate the existing building for commercial use.

These funds are part of $6.4 million from the Department of Development through four state-funded programs to support community enhancement and business growth.

One of those programs is the Abandoned Gas Station Cleanup Program, which was created to provide funding to support the assessment and cleanup of underground storage tanks with documented petroleum releases.

At this point, specific details on the plans for the redevelopment of the property are unknown.
