Greenville man brought to Trumbull County to face charges in hit-and-run crash
A Greenville, Pennsylvania man has been brought to Ohio to face ten charges filed after a hit-and-run accident that injured three members of a Masury family.
Thirty-five-year-old Joshua Butler was transferred to Trumbull County Jail last week from the Mercer County Jail, where he has been held since his arrest in early August.
State Troopers say Butler was the driver of a pickup truck that veered into the opposite lane of State Route 7 in Vernon Township on July 21, forcing an oncoming SUV off the road and into a ditch. Troopers say Butler fled from the accident scene.
A Masury man who was driving the SUV was taken to a hospital, along with a 41-year-old woman and 10-year-old boy, who were passengers.
The Trumbull County Grand Jury handed up a ten-count indictment against Butler, charging him with three counts of aggravated vehicular assault, two counts of aggravated drug possession, fentanyl possession, failure to stop after an accident, OVI, assault, and resisting arrest.
Butler is scheduled to appear for an arraignment in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.
At the time of the crash, Butler was on probation after serving prison time for a 2022 conviction on charges of assault and strangulation.
