E. Coli outbreak linked to organic carrots sold in Ohio, Pennsylvania
An E. Coli outbreak in several states including Ohio and Pennsylvania has led to a recall of organic carrots.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Grimmway Farms is warning of an E. Coli outbreak linked to multiple sizes and brands of its bagged organic baby carrots and whole carrots.
Grimmway Farms says these products are likely not for sale in stores anymore, but may still be in your home.
The recalled products have expiration dates ranging from September 11, 2024 to November 12, 2024 for the baby carrots. The whole carrots do not have visible expiration dates, but were sold in stores between August 14, 2024 and October 23, 2024.

- GreenWise
- Grimmway Farms
- Marketside
- Nature's Promise
- O-Organic
- President's Choice
- Raley's
- Simple Truth
- Sprouts
- Trader Joe's
- Wegmans
- Wholesome Pantry
So far, two cases have been reported across Ohio and Pennsylvania with one case for each state. A total of 39 cases were reported across 18 states.
If you have purchased a recalled product, you're asked not to eat them and instead throw them away and clean and sanitize any surfaces they may have touched. If you consumed a recalled product and are feeling ill, you're asked to reach out to a medical professional immediately.
Symptoms of E. Coli include stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. Symptoms usually start three to four days after swallowing the bacteria.
Most people recover without treatment within five days to one week, however some may develop serious kidney problems and would need to be hospitalized.
