Boardman police investigate shooting on Southern Boulevard

Police are investigating a shooting near Valley Christian School in Boardman.

Boardman Police Chief Todd Werth tells 21 News a male victim was shot near the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Maple Drive near the school shortly after noon Sunday.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is receiving treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. 

Crime scene tape was placed on the road and Boardman police cruisers blocked the road near Maple Drive. Drivers traveling in the area will need to reroute.

Police are currently investigating and looking to identify a potential suspect in the shooting.
