Over 1,200 people in Youngstown were without power Saturday afternoon after a van crashed into a utility pole on the city's west side.

According to FirstEnergy's outage map, a total of 1,269 customers were without power after van crashed into a utility pole on the 900 Block of North Belle Vista Avenue. That number has since been reduced to 389 as of 3:20 p.m.

The pole appears to have broken from the crash.

Crews from the Youngstown Fire Department, as well as EMS crews and utility workers from Ohio Edison are all on scene. At this time, the cause of the crash and the severity of the driver's injuries are unknown.

Additionally, our 21 News crew at the scene saw a dog in the van as well, but the dog appears not to have suffered any injuries from the crash.

FirstEnergy expects power to be back on by 4:30 Saturday afternoon.

In the meantime, North Belle Vista near Cherry Hill Avenue is blocked off while crews clean up the scene.
