With the Ohio Senate passage of Ohio House Bill 81 on Wednesday, several Valley bridges and roads will be getting special designation for those who served and paid the ultimate price - including fallen military members, first responders, and elected officials.
These designations around the Valley will include:
- The Veterans Memorial Bridge on State Route 534 spanning the Mahoning River in the Village of Newton Falls in Trumbull County
- The Cortland Veterans Memorial Bridge on State Route 5 spanning Walnut Creek in the City of Cortland in Trumbull County
- The Chief Radio Operator Walter Dawson Memorial Highway on a portion of US Route 422 between Warren Burton Road and State Route 534
- The Hubbard First Responders Bridge in Hubbard, Ohio, part of U.S. Route 62 in Trumbull County
"We all owe our veterans and first responders a debt of gratitude for their service to our nation, and these designations will allow us to honor them for generations to come," State Senator Sandra O'Brien said. "I am thankful the bills I have worked on were included so we can recognize these heroes in our communities."
The bill will now head to Gov. Mike DeWine's desk for signature.
