Man sentenced for Mercer County murder, facing even more charges in Crawford County
A man who pled guilty to the murder of a Meadville man whose body was found along a roadway in Lawrence County in 2022 learned his fate.
Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker confirmed with 21 News that 33-year-old Johnny Henry Jr. was handed a concurrent sentence of five to 10 years in prison plus 15 years of probation on one count of murder in the third degree.
The charge stems from the murder of 40-year-old Joseph Detello of Meadville. Detello's body was found along Young Road in Slippery Rock Township back in November of 2022.
Detello's cause of death was ruled to be asphyxiation.
Despite the body being found in Lawrence County, further investigation revealed the murder to have taken place in Jackson Township in Mercer County.
In addition, Henry is facing even more charges in Crawford County.
According to court records, Henry is facing multiple charges there including drug delivery resulting in death, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and involuntary manslaughter.
