Due to a power outage at the Beeghly Center, the YSU men's basketball season opener was postponed.
On Saturday November 9th, the Penguins tipped off the 2024-25 season on the road taking on Chicago State University.
Both teams had a slow start in the first half as they traded leads back and fourth. The Penguins went into halftime with a 32-29 lead.
The YSU offense started to click in the second half as they outscored Chicago State 48-31. As the Penguins went on to win their season opener on the road 80-60 the final score.
Fifth-year guard Nico Galette led the team with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
The win was Ethan Faulkner's first win as the YSU head coach.
The Penguins will travel to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes, Monday November 11th at 6 p.m.
