The Youngstown State University football team traveled to Southern Illinois for their final road game of the season.
The Penguins jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and extended that lead to 28-0 late in the second quarter.
The Salukis scored two touchdowns before halftime and YSU still led big 30-12. By the end of the third the Penguins led 33-18.
In the 4th quarter it was all Southern Illinois as they scored three straight touchdowns and they took their first lead of the game 37-33, with 1:04 left in the game.
The Penguins had one more opportunity to win the game with 3 seconds left in the red zone, but came up short as they went on to lose 37-33. They moved to 3-8 on the season and 2-5 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
YSU will play their final game of the season next Saturday at noon against Northern Iowa.
