Thousands of people in Youngstown will be getting a letter in the mail next week telling them they potentially have lead water lines leading to their homes.

Customers who get the letter either have direct service lines that are made of lead, lines that are galvanized or the city just doesn't know if their line could be lead.

Youngstown officials said the letter does not mean there is lead in the water.

The letters are a part of the city's ongoing efforts to get rid of lead lines by 2037.
