The yearslong battle over the future of the Chill Can plant on Youngstown's east side will continue for a while longer.

The Sheriff's sale for the parcels of land has been delayed.

The delay is due to appraisers disagreeing on how much the land is worth.

The City of Youngstown has filed a motion to go with the auditor's appraisal of the site so it can be sold. That price is around $2 million.

"The site has so much great potential for the city with the three large buildings and acreage," Deputy Youngstown Law Director Lou D'Apolito said. "I'm presuming that the city will determine if we were to be the successful bidder that the city would then send out a request for proposals by companies and businesses to take a look at those and determine which of those might best ensure progress for economic development for the city."

The Chill Can project broke ground back in 2016 but was never finished.

It was spearheaded by the M.J. Joseph Development Corporation and had promised hundreds of new jobs for the area.
