Columbiana County Jail guards accused of assaulting inmates
Two Columbiana County Jail corrections officers have pleaded “not guilty” to charges of assaulting inmates of that jail.
David James Ferguson-Grantz of Springfield Township, and Clint Reynolds of Lisbon, both 26 years old, were dressed in orange jail jumpsuits on Thursday and posed for booking photos at the same jail where they work.
Ferguson-Grantz was arraigned Thursday on two counts of assault for two alleged incidents.
According to a criminal complaint, Ferguson-Grantz threw a handcuffed inmate to the floor on September 18, then grabbed him around the head and hit his head against a wall.
Less than a week later, Ferguson-Grantz allegedly pushed another handcuffed inmate up a stairway, and jumped on him, “folding him in half”, according to the complaint.
Both inmates were hospitalized and the incidents were recorded by the jail’s security cameras.
Clint Reynolds is accused of shoving an inmate from behind as he was being released from jail on October 3. Reynolds faces another court hearing on November 21.
Ferguson-Grantz's next hearing is set for November 26.
Both men are free on bond.
