Farrell hospital volunteer, WWII veteran honored on 100th birthday
Chuck Hoyt, who served as a volunteer at UPMC Horizon in Farrell for more than 21 years was honored by hospital leaders and staff at a surprise party for his 100th birthday Thursday.
A longtime volunteer at a Farrell hospital has been honored on his 100th birthday.
Chuck Hoyt, who served as a volunteer at UPMC Horizon in Farrell for more than 21 years was honored by hospital leaders and staff at a surprise party for his 100th birthday Thursday.
Hoyt is a resident of the City of Hermitage and served in World War II. Now he serves his time with 115 volunteers at UPMC horizon. Hoyt tells 21 News those volunteers are like family to him.
"I work with so many beautiful people who give up their time and effort and they come back shift after shift and we have such a close relationship. It's like you're part of a family," Hoyt said.
Hoyt has logged over 7,000 hours total during his 21 years of volunteering.
