Govee has issued a recall of more than 500,000 of its smart electric space heaters due to a potential fire or burn hazard.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled products can overheat, which could pose a fire or burn hazard. Tests determined that the heaters do not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard for movable, wall-mounted, or ceiling-hung heaters.
So far, there have been 113 reports of these products overheating including seven reports of fires and one report of a minor burn injury.
The model numbers affected by this recall include H7130 (including the H7130101 variation), H7131, H7132, H7133, H7134, and H7135. "GoveeLife" or "Govee" is printed on the front or side of each product. The model number is also on the manufacturer's label on the underside of each product.
The recalled products were sold on Amazon, Govee's website, app, and TikTok shop between September 2021 and September 2024 for between $30 and $150 apiece.
The recalled products came in black and white and are 9 inches to 26 inches in height depending on the model.
If you have purchased a recalled product, you're asked to stop using it immediately and contact Govee for a refund. You're asked to unplug the heater, cut the power cord and send an image of the destroyed product, the manufacturer's label, and SN code on the bottom of the product through this link.
Consumers who do not have the original order number will receive a refund between $31.80 to $106.03 depending on the model they purchased. Those who do have the original original order number will receive a full refund based on the purchase price.
