Bazetta man to face second jury trial after deadlock in October trial
A Trumbull County Grand Jury returned a superseding indictment against a Bazatta man after the jury trial was declared deadlocked in October.
40-year-old Brett Budd received a superseding indictment Thursday in connection to the case of shooting a woman in hand after a road rage incident in front of his Bazetta home.
The incident happened in late February when Bazetta police were called around 3:00 a.m. and were told that a pickup truck drove away after allegedly rear-ending a car at East Market Street and Henn Hyde Road in Howland.
After the driver of the car followed the truck to a home on McCleary Jacoby Road in Bazetta Township, a passenger got out of the car.
That’s when the pickup truck driver, identified as 41-year-old Brett Budd, allegedly pulled out a gun.
Police say a female was treated for a gunshot wound to the hand and was released from the hospital.
Budd (pictured above) was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on charges of felonious assault and using weapons while intoxicated. Police say this appeared to be an isolated incident between the two parties.
A new trial has been set for January 13 at 9 am in Judge Cythnia Rice's courtroom.
