A Niles man suspected of pilfering the profits of his former employer has been indicted by the Mahoning County Grand Jury on charges of theft, resisting arrest, assault and obstructing official business as of December 12.

The next court appearance has not been decided on at this time.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of 26-year-old Austin Fox Larsen after being accused of pocketing $2,800 worth of night deposits from a Market Street lube and oil business in August.

Police saw a pickup truck driven by Larsen at his mother’s house on Garden Valley Drive on Tuesday and surrounded the home.

Officers say Larsen came out the back door.  But when they ordered him to stop, he went back inside.

Police say Larsen's mother was handcuffed and placed in a cruiser when she confronted officers.

After Larsen refused to come out of the house, Police say one officer pushed the door open as another pointed a taser at him through a window.

Larsen, according to the police report, put up a fight when officers tried to arrest him.

One officer says Larsen lunged at him while he was being walked to a cruiser.

Police say once Larsen was in a cruiser, he managed to pull his handcuffs under his legs, so they were now in front of him.

An officer tried to get Larsen out of the car, but he kept shutting the door and allegedly tried to bite one officer.

The report says it took five officers to wrestle Larsen to the ground and make sure he was handcuffed behind his back. Police also placed a restrictive device on Larsen’s legs to prevent him from moving his hands again.

Larsen's mother was released without being charged.
