The group that distributes opioid settlement funds in Ohio has granted $514,200 to two Valley organizations to help combat substance misuse by supporting prevention, treatment and recovery efforts.

OneOhio Recovery Foundation announced on Wednesday that it has awarded nearly $2.9 million in grants to 18 organizations across the state

Among the grantees is the City of Salem, which was awarded $386,600 to support a Recovery Resource Hub.

In addition, $127,600 has been granted to the Youngstown based Help Hotline Crisis Center’s Family Success Network to aid impacted children and families.

The Family Success Network is a child abuse and neglect prevention program geared toward all families in Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties.

The program is designed to strengthen resiliency and protect families through information and referral, family coaching, and transition to independence.

Through the voluntary program, at risk families can gain the knowledge and skills necessary to avoid child welfare intervention.

These 18 new grant awards are part of more than $51 million allocated for the 2024 Regional Grant Cycle and were selected from 1,442 funding requests totaling $581 million from organizations statewide.

Grantees were chosen in a collaborative process that included input from the OneOhio Regions, Expert Panel, Grant Oversight Committee and Board of Directors.

Additionally, the OneOhio Recovery Foundation’s Board of Directors has given preliminary approval for more than 150 additional grant awards.

The approval authorizes Foundation staff to negotiate grant agreements with recipient organizations, and awards are publicly announced once grantee organizations complete the grant verification process. Several grant recommendations remain in the review process.

While the Foundation is tasked with distributing 55% of the opioid settlement funds, 15% goes directly to the State of Ohio and 30% goes directly to Ohio local governments.
