Those who served our country are being honored with Veterans Day events around the Valley.
The origins of honoring veterans began with the signing of the peace treaty to end World War I, known as Armistice Day. It was made a legal holiday in 1926. In 1954, the day to honor only WWI vets was changed to honor WWII vets and future vets. Veterans Day is Monday, November 11.
