Trumbull County voters approved a 0.75 mill replacement levy for services for Trumbull seniors, with 61,634 for the levy and 28,953 against it.

The levy will increase funding by $1.2 million, from $2.4 million to $3.6 million, based on increased property valuations in the county.

The levy provides free or low-cost at-home home nursing care, transportation, meals and more for those age 60 years and older. Trumbull County has 60,000 residents over the age of 60.

At the time the levy was approved for the ballot, Trumbull County Senior Levy Administrator Diane Jurkovic told 21 News, “We’ve had the same dollars coming in since 2005. Costs have gone up 30%. So, we're actually covering less service for seniors than they did in 2005.”
