Johnston Twp. Ambulance & EMS replacement levy approved by voters
Another levy goal was to raise wages for basic EMTs from $13.30 to $15.50 per hour and paramedics from $15.30 to $17.50 per hour.
Johnston Township voters approved a 2-mill continuous replacement levy by a vote of 630 to 363.
The levy will bring in additional funds for EMS services based on the new Trumbull property valuations.
Property owners will pay $70 per $100,000 of appraised value.
The replacement levy will give the department an additional $20 over the previous levy cost. The department, with the funds, was looking to contribute funds to the regional EMS service that covers four additional townships.
