Fischer keeps Ohio State Representative District 59 seat

The Ohio House of Representatives is part of the state legislature, comprised of the 99-member Ohio of Representatives and the 33-member Ohio Senate. 

Here is the outcome of the District 59 race:

Ohio’s State Representative District 59 race went to Tex Fischer (R) over Laura Schaeffer (D).  Fischer received 27,567 votes to 25,993 votes.

Fischer was appointed to the seat in late June to fill the remainder of Al Cutrona's time after he was appointed to represent District 33 after Michael Rulli was elected to the US House of Representatives, formerly Bill Johnson’s seat. District 59 includes Youngstown, Poland, North Lima, New Springfield, Ellsworth, Goshen, Smith, including Sebring, and south into Columbiana County to Hanoverton.

Fischer from Boardman is the 1st Vice Chairman for Mahoning Co. GOP, and Schaeffer has been Beloit village councilperson since 2020.
