Seven-year-old from Austintown struck by truck at Youngstown trunk-or-treat event

The Youngstown Police Department has released new information explaining how a child was injured at a trunk-or-treat event in the city.

According to an accident report released on Wednesday, a 7-year-old Austintown boy attending the event at the Academy for Urban Scholars on Market Street was struck by a pickup truck.

The report says the boy was on his knees picking up candy in a parking lot when the truck pulled into the space, striking the child.

The boy, who was found underneath the pickup truck, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries according to the report.

The report does not show that any charges were filed against the  18-year-old Struthers man who was driving the truck.
