Traffic is blocked near the Himrod Avenue Expressway following a shooting in the area.

A 21 News crew at the scene saw several Youngstown police cruisers, along with a black Cadillac stopped in the roadway near I-680 Northbound and the Market Street exit ramp.

An ambulance was spotted at the scene as well.

Police on scene tell 21 News the driver of the Cadillac was driving on the Himrod Avenue Expressway when he was struck by gunfire. He was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition.

Police believe the victim to have been the only one in the Cadillac.

Officers say the suspect vehicle fled the scene on either I-680 Northbound or the Market Street exit. Multiple caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene, indicating there could have been more than one shooter.

Police do not have any further information on any potential suspects at this time.

Divers looking to utilize the road will need to find an alternate route until police finish their investigation.
