The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting two OVI checkpoints this weekend on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.
The first checkpoint will be conducted Friday in Boardman from 10 p.m. until midnight on South Avenue near Larkridge Avenue.
The second will also be in Boardman from 12:30 a.m. until 3 a.m. Saturday on Market Street near Boardman United Methodist Church.
The checkpoints will be accompanied saturation patrols from various law enforcement agencies throughout Mahoning County in order to keep impaired drivers off the road.
A 1990 Supreme Court ruling said holding sobriety checkpoints without first notifying drivers would violate the Constitution's provision barring illegal search and seizure.
The ruling did not spell out what was considered an adequate notification.
