Austintown police have charged a former security guard at Hollywood Gaming for allegedly mailing the gambling venue a bomb threat, then withdrawing the alleged threat.

Mark Simini, 51, of Niles, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of making terroristic threats.

According to a police report, Simini, who was fired as a security guard at Hollywood Gaming last year is suspected of mailing a letter to his former employer claiming a bomb would be detonated within the business unless specific demands were met, including job reinstatement and monetary compensation.

Those demands included a $9 million payment to Simini, a $10,000 donation to Animal Charity, and complimentary Vegas vacations for two of Simini’s acquaintances.

Police say a second letter from Simini refuted the earlier bomb threat and included an apology for causing panic.

Casino officials told police that Simini was terminated in August 2023 but has been coming into the business since trying to get his job back.

Simini was scheduled for arraignment in county court on Wednesday and faces another hearing next month. His bail was set at $15,000.
