Community leaders and residents gathered in Warren Sunday evening to pray for the future of the nation and the Valley.
The prayer vigil at Restoration Christian Fellowship originally aimed to address and pray for the current tense political climate. But many other issues - like crime and worries about the closing of local hospitals - got turned over to prayer as the group joined in song and worship.
Bishop-elect Joseph Walker said that faced with what is going on within the community and nation, it was a time to pray.
"We said, why be reactive when we could be proactive?" said Walker. "That this is a time to pray. A time to take everything to God and trust Him to help us to make better decisions, to have healing in our community -- healing in our land -- and be able to work together as one body."
The NAACP, Urban League and other organizations partnered to host the vigil.
They also provided refreshments and a chance for folks to speak afterward.
