Phase two of Quaker Falls Recreation Area reaches completion
Nestled in Edinburg, Pennsylvania, the serene surroundings at Quaker Falls Recreation Area have received safety and shelter upgrades.
The improvements include a new pavilion with two picnic tables, that is located just steps away from the waterfalls, makes the perfect spot for visitors to gather.
Two overlook areas as well as a new staircase and platform provide a safe way for people to soak in the breathtaking views.
Mahoning Township resident, Charles Hardester told 21 News that he is eager to explore the now safe area with his children.
"I have three kids and they like waterfalls [and] we go on nature hikes. We didn't get to see this one when it first opened because of the conditions of going down, but [developers] have made it a lot easier," Hardester said.
The recreation area is just three years old and sits on roughly 300 acres. Developers say the plan is to add more amenities to the historical land.
"We want to implement at least a walking trail, hiking trail. I don't know if I'll be here to see it, but I want a mountain bike trail," Rebecca Shaffer, Deputy Director for Community Development in Lawrence County said.
The recreation area is located at 5072 W. State St. in Edinburg, Pennsylvania.
