According to the Ohio Fire Marshal, four people were killed in a deadly house explosion in Ellsworth Township.

Fire departments, an ambulance, and a medical helicopter were dispatched to the 8500 block of Huxley Road in Ellsworth Township around 7:15 a.m. Saturday.

The blast could be felt miles from the home, with residents from Canfield, Salem, Beaver Township, Columbiana, and Berlin Center calling 9-1-1 to report the explosion.

Dispatchers from Canfield and Austintown sent crews from Ellsworth, Canfield, Berlin Center, and Green Township.

A birds-eye view of the damage from A 21 News drone provided by 680 Aerials shows scattered debris and a hole in the ground where the 1700 square foot, seven-room home once stood.

Neighbor Tracey Beardsley told 21 News that the blast was so fierce, it knocked her to the ground and shattered all the windows in her home.

"I actually thought it was a small plane crash because we live fairly close to a small airport, then I realized it was much more than that. The whole ground shook, I thought it was an earthquake," said Beardsley.

First responders reported that the home had been destroyed, but was still on fire when they arrived.

After the fire was put out, rescuers searched the home for victims. Debris, including home insulation, is scattered throughout the blast scene.

Ellsworth's assistant fire chief told 21 News that the investigation has been turned over to the state fire marshal.

The explosion is still under investigation, and the cause is undetermined. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
