JobsOhio helps company relocate to East Liverpool
A West Virginia Company is coming to East Liverpool.
True North was a West Virginia based bookkeeping service, and now is becoming a part of East Liverpool.
This project, which has been in the works for months, got support from several sources, including a JobsOhio Vibrant Communities Grant. This is the second grant given to East Liverpool as part of the Vibrant Communities program. Between the two projects, JobsOhio has put $1.3 million into the city.
JP Nauseef, President and Chief executive officer, said helping smaller communities like East Liverpool is extremely important.
"The heart and soul of this state are in Ohio's small towns like East Liverpool," said Nauseef.
As part of the JobsOhio Vibrant Community Program, $700,000 are coming to the True North Project, which is estimated to cost over $2 million. The move to Ohio will bring 80 jobs to the state.
"You're adding jobs at the same time you're making downtown look better. That's a great combination and a recipe for future growth and future development," said Mike DeWine, Governor of Ohio.
True North will be located at the former Buckeye Online School for Success building. Charles Bailey, CEO of True North , said this move would not have been possible without community support and the grant from JobsOhio.
"JobsOhio, and their vibrant communities program in ableness to build the capital stack that was necessary to take on a $2.5 million dollar project that we would have otherwise not been able to do on our own," said Bailey.
Although project was planned prior to JobsOhio stepping in, Bailey said their grant was necessary for getting the project to the finish line. The Columbiana County Board of Commissioners, also gave $231,828 for the project.
That's important since JobsOhio does not publicly disclose why they make their decisions, meaning it's not always clear if they made the difference or not.
Another project, the Thompson building, will be converted to retail and office space. JobsOhio gave $600,000 towards the project.
