A police officer with the Akron Police Department has been indicted by a Trumbull County Grand Jury on multiple child pornography charges.

According to a grand jury report, 34-year-old Geoffrey Parker was indicted on five counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, three counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, two counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Police told 21 News Parker took a nude photo of a four-year-old girl in Weathersfield Township and sent it to an online chatroom app. From there, the image was sent to BCI, who was able to trace it back to Parker.

Parker was arrested at the Akron Police Department two days later.

The Akron Police Department tells 21 News that Parker is on unpaid leave.

Parker was arraigned Thursday morning and is due back in court October 8 for a pretrial hearing. A jury trial has been set for November 12.
