A Youngstown man who is accused of assaulting and beating a pregnant nurse at Trumbull Regional Medical Center may enter a plea of "not guilty by reason of insanity."

Roge Berger, 35, remains jailed after a judge refused to modify his bond Tuesday morning.

The Trumbull County Grand Jury indicted Berger on charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

The charges stem from an incident at Trumbull Regional Medical Center earlier in September where the nurse, who was nearing her baby's due date, was sitting in her car doing an assignment for school after her shift.

A police report states Berger "ripped" the car door open and slammed her into the vehicle followed by grabbing her by the hair and punching her in the face over 20 times. The report says Berger fled on foot and was later identified walking along South Street, where he was arrested.

It took the Warren Municipal Court six attempts to arraign Berger with court employees telling us he wouldn't come out of his jail cell.
