$3.2M pavement project in Mercer, Venango counties begins this week

A $3.2 million project to repair sections of I- 79 and I -80 in Mercer and Venango county is set to begin on Oct. 2.

The project will include 26 miles of Interstate 79 in both directions in Mercer and 27 miles of Interstate 80 in both directions in Mercer and Venango.

Work includes milling and paving, concrete patching and new pavement markings according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Minor repairs will also be done on eight bridges.

As a result, motorists can expect lane restrictions on these roads and anticipate travel delays during work hours.

Work is expected to begin Oct. 2 and will be completed in August of 2025.
