Parole denied for man convicted in deadly 1987 stabbing in Weathersfield Township

An inmate convicted of stabbing a Warren man to death in Weathersfield Township back in 1987 has been denied parole.
According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 64-year-old John Lysikowski is serving a 15-year-to-life prison sentence for the stabbing death of Randy Nicholson of Warren back in June of 1987.
He was convicted and sentenced in October of that same year.
Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins says he's pleased with the parole board's decision noting that Lysikowski has been released once before in 2007 and continued to commit violent crimes.
Watkins quoted parole records detailing these crimes written by a woman who tried to stop Lysikowski from hurting animals.
"On September 8, 2007, Lysikowski started the day abusing the animals. He bloodied the cat's mouth then took an ax after the dog. He threw the ax through a window at me and then came in and started beating on me. He punched me on the left side of my face and head," the parole records read.
Watkins also noted several infractions from Lysikowski during his time in prison like drug abuse, stealing, threatening guards and acts of violence.
"Clearly this man, at age 64 is not ready for prime time," Watkins said.
