The Autism Society of the Mahoning Valley has announced that special-ed teachers from three Valley schools will be receiving a total of $950 from the Autism Teacher Mini-Grant Program.

According to a press release, the grants aim to support these teachers in expanding resources and enhancing classroom experiences. 

At Springfield Elementary School, special-ed teacher Amanda Horne received $500, which will be used to purchase books on inclusivity, as well as sensory items such as desk buddies to support students with special needs and create a more inclusive environment in the classroom.

Meanwhile at Center Intermediate School in Boardman, Alicia Mason-Smith received $250, which will be used to create "communication books" for nonverbal students to aid their academic needs and daily communication.

Finally in Columbiana County, Alyssa Fickel from Crestview Elementary School received $100, which will be used to purchase a sensory swivel chair to provide flexible seating options for her students.
