Hermitage opens DEK hockey rink
Calling all hockey fans and those looking for some outdoor fun. The City of Hermitage has announced the official opening of its brand-new DEK hockey rink at the City of Hermitage Athletic Complex (750 S. Darby Rd.).
Dek Hockey is a variation of ice hockey that uses a ball instead of a puck and can be played outdoors on foot or with inline skates.
The rink is open to the public free of charge during daylight hours, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Whether you're a seasoned player or just looking to lace up your skates and learn the basics, the DEK hockey rink is a place to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors.
For those interested in a more structured experience, private rentals are available for $20 per hour. Reservations can be made online through the City's ActiveNet software: https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/cityofhermitage/home
The YMCA will soon be offering Skills & Drills sessions at the rink. Details about these programs will be announced shortly.
Aspiring league players are in luck. Brandon Weimerskir is actively forming the Hermitage Area Hockey Association. The City will lend its support by promoting league events and reserving facilities once the association is established.
Individuals interested in getting involved or starting a league can email [email protected]. Their contact information will be forwarded to the organizers of the Hockey Association.
