The Kinsman-based Richard and Rhonda Thompson foundation announced the grand opening of the historic Stone Cottage at the Peter Allen Inn.

According to a press release, the cottage was originally built by David Smilie in 1836. Now it's been restored and repurposed to offer four overnight rooms and spa services.

These four additional rooms are on top of the existing three in the historical Allen House for a total of seven rooms.

The public can tour the newly-repurposed cottage Sunday, September 29 from noon until 5 p.m. or Wednesday, October 2 from noon until 6 p.m.

Additionally, guests who have a meal at the Peter Allen Inn and show their receipt during the tour will be entered to win an overnight stay in the cottage.

According to the release, Smilie purchased the property from Jonathan Kenny, who required payment in silver. Since then, the cottage became a symbol of early Ohio craftmanship.
