Girard Police warn of crackdown on unlicensed off-road vehicles
The Girard Police Department is warning residents and visitors alike: operating an unlicensed off-road vehicle within city limits could result in vehicle impoundment and criminal charges.
In a recent Facebook post, police officials expressed growing concern over increasing complaints regarding off-road vehicles on city roadways, parks, and private property without permission. Noise disturbances and reckless driving have been cited as primary issues.
Girard Police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy for unlicensed off-road vehicles, which include ATVs, dirt bikes, side-by-side vehicles, and any other similar vehicles. The department emphasizes that these vehicles pose a significant safety hazard when operated on public streets and in designated areas.
In addition to potential traffic citations and criminal penalties, a city ordinance grants police the authority to impound vehicles found in violation of the law.
The department urges residents to report any instances of unlicensed off-road vehicle activity to the Girard Police Department.
