Identity of suspect in crash that injured 16-year-old in Youngstown revealed
21 News has learned the identity of the man who is believed to be the one who caused 16-year-old to be rushed to the hospital after a hit-and-run accident on the city's Eastside.
A crash report identified the suspect as 46-year-old Herman Posey III (pictured below). Posey has been booked in the Mahoning County Jail.
Dispatchers got a call after 9 a.m. Friday, the juvenile was hit by a pickup truck at Bennington Avenue and Parker Street.
Police tell 21 News that the victim was taken to a hospital, but didn’t say how severely he was injured.
Evidence markers were placed near a backpack, a cell phone, and a charger that were in the street where the child was struck.
YPD said they were able to identify Posey and the vehicle with the assistance of the districts speed cameras.
The report stated "The vehicle was quickly located and the driver was subsequently arrested and charged with Failure to Stop after an Accident and Driving under Suspension.
Posey is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving under suspension. He's set to be arraigned on these charges Monday afternoon.
