Paintings from a Valley artist were on display for all to see in Mill Creek Metroparks on Sunday.

Art from Boardman-based artist Beth Basista was featured at the Painted Memories event in the Weller Gallery at Fellows Riverside Garden throughout the day Sunday and will remain on display until October 16.

The exhibit features over 40 paintings in oils, acrylics and water colors capturing many landmarks throughout Mill Creek Park. Additionally, shell art florals and paintings are on display at the entrance to the gallery.

According to a press release, Basista's shell art paintings start with an acrylics or watercolor painting of under the sea, beach or sunset painted on a canvas. From there, she creates marine life and "beach gals" out of shells and attaches them to the painting.

21 News caught up with Basista at the event and she told us about her inspiration for her Mill Creek Park painting series.

"I've always enjoyed the park since I was a young girl. I come here with my other artist friends and we sit and we paint the different scenes that we like," Basista said.

Basista went on to say she hopes her pieces generate discussion amongst those who buy them and add them to their homes.
