An early morning fire in Youngstown destroyed two vacant homes.

Firefighters initially responded to reports of a structure fire on Kist Place near Hillman Street around midnight Sunday. They arrived to find a home engulfed in flames, threatening the home next door.

Crews contained the fire, but the house was a total loss.

The heat proved to be too much for the neighboring home, however. Youngstown firefighters were called back to the area around 3 a.m. when the fire reignited, burning the second house to the ground.

21 News is told both homes were vacant, and nobody was injured.

There is no word yet on what cause the fire.
