Jewish Community Center installs gender-inclusive restroom signs
The Jewish Community Center (JCC) wants to ensure all of its members feel accepted and respected by promoting gender inclusivity throughout the building.
New signs installed inside the building encourage people to choose which facility to use based on how they identify.
"This is a long standing policy that we've had here at our agency. We welcome everyone and want to provide an inclusive environment for everyone." JCC Director, Denise Wolf said.
It's a move that's not just about policy, but about fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion. Wolf said the signs are displayed on every restroom and locker room door.
She believes gender-inclusive facilities for all members of JCC, excluding children, is an effort that promotes equality in the Valley.
While the new signage represents a step towards inclusivity, there are alternative areas for people who want a more traditional setting.
According to Wolf, the reaction from members of the gym has been positive.
