Two local non-profits have expressed feelings of optimism for the recent transfer of ownership for two Steward-owned hospitals in Trumbull County.

Western Reserve Health Education (WRHE) Inc. along with Warren City Hospital expressed optimism about Insight Health System's plans for Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Warren.

WRHE President Dr. Kimberly Howe says the transfer of ownership increases the likelihood that the two hospitals will survive.

Meanwhile, Warren City Hospital Director John Woods says Insight's vision to continue operating the hospitals matches the results his non-profit wished to acheive.

"Even though our original plan to work with WRHE to buy the hospitals didn't secure the funding we needed, we believe our efforts over the past several months established momentum that kept Trumbull and Hillside open and eventually drew the commitment of a quality operator," Woods said.
