Police presence increased Friday at Austintown schools
Austintown Police say they've beefed up their presence at local schools due to threats.
The move comes one day after officials at the Austintown School District cautioned families of spreading threats of school shootings on social media.
At this time, no specific threat has been made to a school or student in the district, according to a post on the district's Facebook page.
Despite this, measures are being taken to increase the safety of students and staff tomorrow.
"Although we do not believe there is a credible threat, and neither our district nor our students have been specifically named in these posts, we will have an increased police presence on our school campus tomorrow as an added precaution," the district says in a post on Facebook.
A school resource office is also positioned at every school in the district regularly, the post reads.
