Three taken to hospital after 'chaotic' crash involving ambulance near Southern Park Mall

Three people have been taken to the hospital following a crash on Route 224 in Boardman involving an ambulance.

The scene of the crash, which dispatchers described as "chaotic" was captured on our StormTracker 21 Weather Camera shows multiple vehicles involved in the crash with multiple ambulances and a fire truck on scene.

It is unclear exactly how many vehicles were involved, but photos from 21 News crews at the scene show at least three that appear to have been involved in some way. 

Multiple vehicles including the ambulance have sustained front end damage.

Crews on scene tell 21 News the ambulance was responding to a call when the crash happened. Two people in the ambulance were taken to the hospital and one person in another car was also taken.

We're working to learn the extent of those injuries, as well as what caused the crash or who is at fault.

The area is currently closed to westbound traffic. Drivers should avoid the area for the time being.
