A Campbell woman is facing multiple child endangering charges after police say she left six children behind in a home with several bug bites.

According to a police report, officers went to a home on Chambers Street on Wednesday, September 11 to serve an active warrant for 30-year-old Whitney Daye.

Police say when they knocked on the door and asked Daye to come out, she said she had to call her girlfriend to watch the kids. Police say she then fled the home through the back door leaving the six children behind.

Once Daye's girlfriend arrived, police went into the home and say the children had open sores that appeared to be bug bites covering every part of their bodies and that the children were scratching at them.

Police also say the children were scarcely clothed and some appeared to have sagging diapers that needed to be changed.

Police went on to describe the conditions of the house noting that trash and other items were covering the floor and noted an "overwhelming" odor.

Eventually, police say Daye's girlfriend called her and told her to come back to the home. Daye came back and was arrested.

Court employees tell 21 News she's charged with five counts of endangering children and one count of obstructing official business. She was arraigned on these charges Friday morning.

Meanwhile, Mahoning County Children Services were called to the home where they determined that the children would be removed from the home and placed in more suitable living conditions.

21 News has since learned that these were not the only child endangering charges filed against Daye with six more being filed back in December. The warrant police arrested Daye on was for those other six charges.

Those charges stem from an incident where Campbell Police were called to the same home to assist Children Services with a call about the children being left alone.

That report also mentioned that a registered sex offender was living in the home with the children, who are between the ages of two and nine years old.
