Over $66,000 has been approved to be used to construct a new walking path for visitors of Perkins Park in Warren.

Warren Safety Services Director Eddie Colbert tells 21 News the city's Board of Control approved $66,665 to be used to construct a walking path on the north side of the park.

Colbert says as it stands, the north side of the park has a roadway for cars to drive through to get into the park, but pedestrians use this roadway to walk into the park as well.

Colbert says this walking path will make the park more aesthetically pleasing, as well as safer for pedestrians to walk into since the walking path will be completely separated from vehicular traffic.

The walking path will be an asphalt path with paving work being done by Don Walters Paving. Colbert says work is expected to begin next week and should only take a few days to complete.
