Ohio Secretary of State sends more than 600 alleged election law violations to Attorney General's Office

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose's Election Integrity Unit has sent evidence of election law violations to the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
According to the release, LaRose's team sent more than 600 violations to the AG's Office.
Under Ohio State law, the Secretary of State is empowered to investigate the administration of election laws, frauds, and irregularities in elections.
"Unfortunately, many of these referrals have not been pursued by law enforcement, sometimes by choice and other times due to limited prosecutorial capacity," Secretary LaRose said. "State law gives the attorney general the authority to take up these referrals if the prosecuting attorney doesn't prosecute the violations within a reasonable time. The only way to maintain Ohio's high standard of election integrity is to enforce the law whenever it's broken."
Hun Yi, the Director of Investigations for the Secretary of State's Public Integrity Division, said they don't believe all of the 633 referrals will lead to criminal charges.
Yi said only 12 out of the 633 claims had a second set of eyes on them to help determine if the case should be prosecuted.
