An apple juice recall announced last month impacting Walmart stores in Pennsylvania and Ohio has been expanded.

It now includes Aldi, Walgreen's and more, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Now, more than 133,500 cases of apple juice are being recalled over fears they may have an increased amount of inorganic arsenic.

More than 25 states including Pennsylvania and Ohio are impacted by the recall.

Impacted brands of apple juice include Great Value, Market Basket, Nice!, Weis, Urban Meadow, Nature's Nectar, Wellsly Farms, Solevita and Clover Valley.

The products were produced by Refresco Beverages Inc. based in Tampa, Florida.

Arsenic is a naturally occurring, semimetallic element widely distributed in the Earth’s crust. Arsenic levels in the environment can vary by locality, and it is found in water, air and soil, according to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Food also contains low levels of organic arsenic, according to the institute.

However, inorganic arsenic is believed to be more toxic than organic arsenic and could lead to more severe health impacts to your cardiovascular system, endocrine system, nervous system and more.
