The Liberty Little Leopards youth football program celebrated it's 50th anniversary with a special commemorative game against the McDonald Little Blue Devils.

The program celebrated a half a century of youth football in Liberty, a legacy that began in 1974 under the guidance of John Batcho.

All the former Liberty Little Leopard players and cheerleaders were invited to attend the game, and helped pay tribute to Batcho, who passed away in 2017.

Batcho founded the McDonald Little Blue Devils in 1959, 15 years before founding the Liberty Little Leopards.

"This game holds a special significance, these are his two creations," said John Batcho, son of the team's founder.

The Little Blue Devils celebrated their own 50th anniversary in 2009, demonstrating the lasting impact of Batcho's initiatives.

"It was an honor to follow in John's footsteps...they were big shoes to fill, you heard the name John Batcho back in the day, everyone knew who John Batcho was," said Liberty Little Leopard's coach Tom Pallante.
